Each year, our Lodge raises funds for Elks National Foundation (ENF) through our ENF Reverse Raffle at the end of February. In 2020, our Lodge donated $2814.50 ($12.79/member) to ENF. That donation set us up to apply for $7500 from ENF to help people in our local area. For each $1 that we gave, $2.65 came back to our communities. Here’s how those funds were used:
$2000: Farmington CARES for the COVID-19 emergency fund
$2000: Redford Union Schools to provide learning materials to students to support remote learning
$1200: Manoogian Manor for supportive care for low-income frail seniors
$2000: Volunteers of America to help veteran families move from transitional to permanent housing
$300: Fisher House in Ann Arbor to support housing costs for families of veterans undergoing treatment at the VA hospital
So far in 2021, our members have donated $405 to ENF, or $1.96 per member. Grand Lodge per capita is $4.80 and once we hit that mark, we are eligible to apply for all of the grants. We would love to get that up to $13 per member and be able to apply for the same amount in grants, if not more. One way to be generous to ENF is to support our reverse raffle – it’s fun, it builds camaraderie in our Lodge, and the return on investment to our local communities is a tangible demonstration of our identity: ELKS CARE, ELKS SHARE.
You can get your tickets in person at the Lodge or by contacting the office (248.476.1986). See you soon at the Lodge.
